Waitemata Manuka Honey UMF 5+

NT$1,530

Description

Waitemata Manuka Honey is 100% pure raw honey that is not subjected to heat treatment, thus ensuring all of its properties being intact. The honey is collected in an uncontaminated zone, and Waitemata’s beekeepers do not use synthetic chemicals or pesticides during the management and care of the bees, resulting in safe and high quality honey.

Waitemata Manuka Honey UMF 5+ is produced in New Zealand by bees that pollinate the native Manuka bush. UMF stands for “Unique Manuka Factor” and is a grading system developed by the UMF Honey Association in New Zealand. The UMF grading system is known as the Golden Standard and tracks key signature markers such as Leptosperin, Methyglyoxal, and Hydroxymethylfurfural .

Leptosperin is a naturally occurring chemical found only in the nectar of Manuka plants and is used to confirm the authenticity of Manuka honey. Methyglyoxal is the major antibacterial component in Manuka honey. Hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) is produced from the breakdown of sugar and is used as an indicator of heat treatment and aging.
