Mānuka Honey

What Is Mānuka Honey?

Mānuka honey is monofloral honey made by bees from the nectar of the New Zealand Mānuka tree. Many years of scientific research have found that Mānuka honey has a lot of properties that bring people around the world natural benefits for immunity and well-being.

Worker bees add an enzyme (glucose oxidase) to the nectar inside the hive in order to preserve the honey for storage and uses later. When Mānuka honey is eaten, the glucose oxidase enzyme will slowly release hydrogen peroxide which has anti-bacterial qualities. The levels of hydrogen peroxide released are of a high enough level to destroy certain bacteria, yet low enough not to affect any human tissue.

Darker in colour with a very distinctive taste, rich in potent compounds, antioxidants, prebiotics, vitamins and trace minerals, Mānuka honey is unlike any other honey in the world.
